Maybe I should have worn the heels.

Today while I was checking in with the wardrobe department, I was cleared to wear open toe flats, which when you are working a 13.5 hour day, is a huge relief!
I thought to myself, hey today is going to be a good day.
I left basecamp to get my breakfast, I opted to have some oatmeal, fresh fruit and the activia yogurt I had packed in my bag. The fact that the background were told not to get too cozy because the crew may need to come and use our seats, probably should have been an indication that the day was not going to continue running so smoothly. All of the extras were then crammed into a little corner, not exactly the "holding area" we all had in mind, especially on what turned out to be a 90+ degree day.
Next up we were ushered to the set, it was a club scene and the set was pumped with smoke, a girl asked one of the crew members just what exactly we were breathing in? He responded confidently, "it is water based." Water with many many chemicals, people were coughing, eyes turning red and noses running, at first it reminded me of playing laser tag, but then I too joined in with the drippy noses, which was just great.
Next, we (the extras) were being barked at to do this and that, the communication was a little sketchy throughout the whole day. The cameras started rolling and after a few takes it was time for the turnaround shots, which put me behind the camera. I stood quietly with the rest of the crowd as the camera rolled. Then one of the principal actors came marching towards me, I turned sideways so as to let her squeeze past me, she didn't do the same, causing her arm to hit my side and her ginormous 3" heel to stomp right on my toes! The best part was she kept a fierce look and didn't even acknowledge I existed, let alone was mourning the loss of two toes. It is at moments like these I hear Kelly's words, "
just living the dream." That is what he says to himself when he spends the evening driving around with literally no calls to respond to, or when his big call of the week was getting a raccoon out from underneath someones bed because animal control doesn't work on Sundays. Southern California (thankfully) hasn't been the war zone people make it out to be.
It looks like we are redefining California Dreamin'.

That sounds like it really hurt!! I can be a bit of a wimp when it comes to my toes...the kids always seem to drop cans of food on it too.
Hope you have a better time soon!
