Food for Thought.

On Monday I worked once again on the show Samantha Who?, as usual I was excited to work on it as I really enjoy the crew and the cast is much more friendly and less diva like than most.

Anyway, wardrobe called for it to be late fall, "lots of layers," as the wardrobe lady put it, well in the real world the temperature was climbing along in the 90's. I still thought I would be fine, I was booked with my car and chosen as a driver, just circling the set, I thought great I will have my bottled water and AC. Well, 2 hours into it and a bazillion takes later my water was long gone and the sound guys decided that all AC must be turned off. The fans on the cars were too loud. As the circling continued, part of my route passed me buy craft services. I saw the late morning snacks and drinks set out, circled for another hour plus and saw them dwindled away. I have never had to drive this long on set, my previous max was 2 hours and then we rotated with the pedestrians, not today. I was parched and sweaty and not feeling too well, breakfast was at 6:40 am and it was now after 1pm. Finally on one of my routes I heard "cut," jumped out of my car and ran into the commissary, debit card in hand. It was lunch time so the line was super long, I didn't have time to wait, thankfully I saw complimentary water cups buy the exit just as I almost ran into Stacey Dash, you know Dionne from Clueless. I only recognized her because Clueless was on tv the other night as I was flipping the channels, and she doesn't look like she has aged in 10 years. I just looked her up on imdb and she was born in 1966, I swear to you she could play a college student. Anyway, back into the car. Thankfully we went to lunch at two. After lunch the crew started handing the drivers water bottles through our windows as we drove by, I savored every sip.

At the end of the day there was a taco bar set up in the back of the stage. As I made my way through the buffet, some of the other background actors were talking "smack" about the PA's, the PA's were right there just shaking their heads. I didn't want to be linked with the smack talkers so I smiled and slipped out. As I made my way to my car I realized that I had forgot to get a fork. Oh well, I will be fine with the tacos and do not really need the beans and rice. Well, after the studio road trip I was hungrier than I thought, and yep you guessed it, I high tailed it home and ate my beans and rice with my hand. I only put this on my blog because those of you who know me know how tired I must have been. All I was thinking was my hand touched the serving spoons and now I am licking beans off my fingers, what in the world am I doing?!?

I told Kelly about my rustic dinner and he laughed as he responded, "oh no, did you spill all over?" Nope, I responded, how funny is that, there was one little piece of rice that fell onto the seat belt. No, I didn't eat it, I had grossed myself out enough.

So, although my only acting of the day was pretending as though I wasn't embarrassed that my seat belt had left a sweaty line of evidence on my shirt and that I could have driven to Las Vegas and back, it was still a good day. A day that I will remember and a day that made me miss the beautiful grey Seattle sky.

I am laughing so hard. I will miss these stories. Stacy Dash! Love that girl. Love that movie. I just read she is in something else coming out...hmmm. Oh I know! CELEBRITY CIRCUS. I think she cracked a couple of ribs on something they call The Wheel of Death. How do I remember these things?! Well, because I thought, "Dionne should not need to be slumming it on Celebrity Circus. She's gorgeous and funny. That makes me sad."

I mean really, can't Murray lend a girl a hand and get her a guest spot on Scrubs at least?
