I wish...

there was such a thing as netbooks you know like netflix. I realize I could go to the library, but for some reason I would rather pay and just have the books sent to me. Laziness, convenience, I don't know? But it's just a wish.
Any book recommendations? I know Twilight is all the craze right now, but truth be told, I am probably the biggest scaredy cat you will ever meet, and vampires may just be too freaky... Still, perhaps I will crack one open and try.
When I was in California I was talking to a random girl on set and she was listing half a dozen books she was reading, I casually said "When I get to the library or bookstore, I always forget the titles of books that I want to read..." She responded in one sharp breath, "If you wanted to read you would remember." It was an awkward end to our 5 minute conversation.
I actually do remember the title of one of the books she recommended, The Time Traveler's Wife. So, maybe there was some truth to her abruptness.

On a totally different note, I encountered a real life Mose. You know, Dwight's cousin on The Office. Yesterday I was at an audition, I accidentally entered the office from the back, no wonder I had to shimmy past large storage boxes and randomness (another story in itself) just to get to the door. Anyway, once I entered and was properly directed to the lobby, I rounded the corner and there sitting on the couch was Mose. I sat down in a chair across from him. The receptionist didn't say a word, she just smiled, almost creepy like. She didn't look away, just starred at me. It was weird. Mose was looking down, looked up at me quickly, smiled at the receptionist, then starred at me. I smiled awkwardly, you know no teeth, almost like a nervous twitch. He then slid a bowl of grapes toward me, like a peace offering. I just started quietly rummaging through my bag. On the table were grapes, trail mix and some opened chocolates. He sat there hands folded in lap, I felt like Pam when she and Jim stayed the night at Dwight's place, I half expected a bedtime story to be read. Mose was wearing a cropped kelly-green shirt.

I can see it all...I can't wait until next Thursday! I CAN'T WAIT!

I've got a pile of books as high as my arm waiting to be read.
I've determined to start TODAY.

I always forget the books I have been wanting to read too! I had to start an amazon wish list just to help me remember!
what are you in the mood for...fiction? nonfiction?

One of the reasons I didn't want to read Twilight was because I too, am a really big scaredy cat (example: I go on a parental movie screening website just to see how many scary/blood scenes a movie has before I'll see it, true story) but once you start reading them you'll go so hooked in with the characters and the romance that the scary scenes won't bother you. They aren't sharp fanged, coffin dwelling vampires either. The author does a good job of leaving you in suspense without scaring you to death, at least that is my opinion of it.

And yes I totally agree it would be nice to have books delivered, I'd probably read more :)

I second Christy's sentiment. The books aren't really as scary as they are romantic :)

I think you might really like The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver. Your plethora of odd happenstances reminds me of her books. My favorite of hers is Animal Dreams.

Your netflix idea for books is brilliant. Netboox? Especially if they had recommendations and reviews, too. Check out goodreads.com

I have to agree with Christie and Bridget. While I do love me a good scary book sometimes (and only on the rare occasion), I absolutely fell in love with the Twilight series. And it is much more of a romance than scary vampire book. Its just an overall very interesting series and a rather quick read.
