October 15th

2005
Three years ago, I woke up, got ready for what I anticipated as being a super busy day. Stefanie and Lindsey picked me up, and then we were on our way to Allie's wedding! I had my dress, my shoes and an arsenal of beauty supplies, oh and my cell phone close by. My sister was due on October 17th, so I was on standby to head to California at any given moment. When the girls and I reached the ferry dock to head over to Allie's wedding, I gave her a call to let her know that we were only a ferry ride away. Literally as soon as I hung up with her, my phone rang, it was go time... Tiffany was in labor and my family was set to leave on the next plane to California, I let them know how far away I was from the airport, my stomach sank as the cars started loading the ferry. I called Allie, reception wasn't the greatest, but in full confidence she said "go!" meaning go be with your sister. Allie became an aunt the year before and she had told me if it came to this, which we never dreamed it really would, to go. I looked at Lindsey as we were the next car in line for the ferry, she said "What do I do???!" we pulled a u-turn, zoomed back to Seatac and I headed to California.
It is still a little weird to see Allie's wedding photos and realize I was literally about to get on the ferry, I guess timing really is everything.
So, October 15th, the day I became an aunt and the day I missed one of my best friend's weddings, a day I won't forget.
2006
This had been a big year for us, new house, surgery, Kelly moving up at work, all sorts of stuff. I think I spent October 15th resting after Taye's 1st birthday party, I did a lot of resting Fall of 06'.
2007
Last year I was living in California and spent October 15th working on the show "Brothers & Sisters." It was my first time filming at the Disney Studios, I still have my security pass from that day, and still remember making a fool of myself when I tried to be witty talking to Chevy Chase.
2008
Today, well, I am feeling healthy, living in a little apartment... back in Washington, working random hours and still figuring things out. So, although time flies, a lot really does happen in a year. I feel like I have a good idea of what next year could hold, but looking at my track record, I better not place too many bets.
