Whirlwind

December 23rd:
I go to bed thinking: tomorrow will not be that bad, I am sure I will wake up and think... this is fine, it is only a couple days until I see my family etc...

December 24th:

I wake up, Oh my word, it is Christmas Eve and I am not going home!!! Kelly is going to work, and I will be here by myself!!! So, Kelly, some of my family and I put into order a plan. Flights to Seattle had plenty of open seats, I could leave for Seattle just a bit before Kelly goes to work (his only concern was whether or not we would still have all of the Christmas Eve food as planned :) and then return to CA in the morning and spend Christmas day with Kelly. Everyone wins!

So, Kelly and I enjoy Christmas Eve as planned, I make a TON of food. Our mantra was, "There may not be family, but by golly there will be food," I guess you had to be there. Then Kelly dropped me off at the airport, and I waited to board the plane. Just as I was feeling relaxed at the airport, I heard an announcement..."Due to the extreme winds..." in short, the flight was basically cancelled and half of the booked passengers were being bussed to a different airport for a 6:40 pm departure; which would put me in after the party and would cut my almost 13 hour block of time in WA down to 8 1/2 hours. So, I called Kelly and my family, went outside, put on my sunglasses, saw Jay Leno drive by in a red "Model T" car (with the top off of course), tried to take a picture using my phone but pressed the wrong button and then made it back to my apartment to spend an hour or so with Kelly before he headed to work. In that hour I opened up Gilmore Girls Season 7 and now I plan to overdose on GG and Trader Joes peppermint bark.

Oh, and I wasn't really taking the winds too seriously until just a few minutes ago a huge gust of wind made my sliding glass door flex and I heard a few neighbors in unison shout "Ohhhhh, Wow!" So, I guess in a weird way I am not alone. And, Kelly set me up with a flashlight and some candles in case the power goes out.

I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, and I hope that everyone who reads this has the opportunity to remember what Christmas is all about, I know I will have a few spare moments to myself :)

Lastly, my sister made me laugh when she was coming up with possible reasons I wasn't able to make it home, "maybe there would have been really bad turbulence and you would have been nauseous and puked all over yourself," I said "yeah, that would have been really gross and then I would have smelled the whole night," Tiffany "yeah."

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths lying in a manger."
