Lazy Saturday

I love weekends! Today was so simple, but so enjoyable. Georgie had a bit of a rough night, so we just had a very laid back morning, snuggled and snapped some pictures. Kelly and I had bratwursts for breakfast, weird I know. Then this afternoon, we went grocery shopping. All three of us ventured into the first store, and then Kelly and Georgie napped in the car while I finished off the list in the second store. I made sure to buy lots of candy for tomorrow, last year I feared I was going to run out and be the weird neighbor handing out almonds or apples or something. So, this year I feel much more prepared for the crowds to come! Then we came home and Georgiana and Kelly played while I made Shrimp Pomodoro for Linner. When we eat an early dinner and haven't had a big lunch or maybe no lunch (eek!), we call it Linner. Linner nights usually equal dessert nights, a serious benefit to eating early. Anyway, I bought the shrimp and some ground beef from the meat counter, and I laughed at myself because for some reason purchasing directly from the meat counter rather than the pre packaged items made me feel very grown up. Silly, I know. At 27 I should probably just feel 'grown up' all the time, but I don't. And, for some reason I have always been a little tiny bit intimidated by the meat counter staff, again silly and weird. I chat it up with the deli and bakery people like we are old friends, but talking to the meat cutter today was a whole new world to me. I know a meat cutter or two that prefer that title over butcher (hi Amanda :), so I go with it. I realize knowing a meat cutter or two make my intimidation all the more silly, anyway...
The Shrimp Pomodoro turned out delish, this summer my brother in law made us chicken pomodoro and said he liked it even better with shrimp, so we thought we would give it a try. Yum. It is a light, fresh and pretty easy meal to make, which is exactly what parents of little ones want and need! I think the recipe is from the P90X cookbook (is there a cookbook... anyway, I think it is affiliated with that).

After Linner we watched part of The Office while the Catnap Queen did her thing. Got to love dvr, sometimes it takes us 3 days to get through a 30 minute show! After that, I made these... My friend Stefanie made them for us a few years back, and they are so so so so tasty! We call them Pumpkin Deliciousness, but their legal name is Pumpkin Cream Sandwiches. After all that playtime little Georgie girl got tuckered out. She is fast asleep, resting up for ther big day as a Ladybug tomorrow!
