06 January 2008

I met with a recent Yale film school graduate yesterday after being connected via craigslist and by 8:30 am this morning my apartment was turned into a commercial set. Dove is hosting a commercial contest and the commercials will all be posted on their website for viewers to vote. Kelly and I both had the opportunity to be in one today and I will be sure to post a link when it is available!

Other than that, Kelly has been working and adjusting to his new sleep schedule and I have been auditioning for student/independent films and learning new lessons about LA all of the time. One lesson I learned this week was even when an audition post says "blonds," submit for it anyway. After seeing the "looking for blond host..." audition posting for a few days I decided to submit anyway and now tomorrow I am going to an audition to be an "E News" style host for a Scandinavian show. Yep, you read it right, Scandinavia. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia)
Always an adventure.

Also, on an even more random note, Kelly and I were driving to Santa Monica yesterday and in unison both said, "what kind of field is that?" then we saw the sign, Lawn Bowling. On Wilshire Blvd. on the way to Santa Monica between restaurants and office buildings there is a Lawn Bowling Field/Green. Why we found this hilarious I don't know, but lawn bowling really? I am not one to turn down a good game of Bocce, but I had no idea the game of lawn bowling had a large enough following to have a field/green/court/i don't know what on Wilshire Blvd.
But, as Kelly said earlier this week, "There's a lot of fruit here."
I responded squinty browed and laughing, "What does that mean?"
Kelly, "Just all different kinds here."
Me, "Yep, you're right." (Half thinking, and we're some of them).

Ah ha, so it is Sweden and Norway (and Finland and Iceland and Denmark)! Well, I've been there, and I fit right in, and I think you're gorgeous and funny, so it just might work out. ;)

Isn't diversity fun??
