midnight madness

I have never seen so many ugg boots and skinny jeans in my life. That was the unofficial wardrobe at "Twilight's" premiere on Thursday/Friday. This was my first midnight movie, well 12:02 am showing to be exact. Kelly was nice enough to go with me, and he enjoyed the "pre-show" almost as much as the movie. We knew we had to get to the theatre early, so after picking up some snacks we arrived at 10:20 pm, I feared being the first people there, but I couldn't have been more off...
We got in line behind about 150 giggling 14 year old girls. The twenty somethings all arrived about an hour or so after we did. Kelly and I just laughed as a cat fight almost broke out right in front of us. "No Cutting!!!" and "You didn't just tell ME to chill out!" were just a few of the words we overheard. People also sat clutching their Twilight books closely. Some, chose to read while they waited, others played cards or discussed how they were going to marry "Edward."
When the line finally started moving I asked Kelly for the play by play, he was able to clearly see over the hundreds of girls. We got past the usher and into the theatre, then it was the running of the bulls...
It was either get trampled or run. So, I dodged between girls and squirmed to get the perfect seats. Kelly was intentionally walking slowly and trying to take up room in the aisle, he was cracking himself up.
We sat down and to our surprise saw one of the guys Kelly works with, a big burly guy who looked horrified that he was caught at the film. He was with his wife, I think he and Kelly were both relieved to have their wives as "excuses" for being in the sea of screaming girls.
Overall, I liked the movie. Of course the book was better, but if it wasn't, I doubt it would have even been good enough to initiate the making of the movie anyway. There's nothing like a book that allows you to really enjoy each thought and feeling of the character. A movie has to keep moving at a visual speed.
It has officially been announced that the sequel, New Moon, will be made by Summit Entertainment.
Looks like another midnight showing is in the making...

Beau and I went on opening day. He HATED it! But I secretly loved it and then went to see it with Lucy a couple days later and got to really enjoy it. It's not very good, but it's a lot of fun!
