A quick Kelly update.
First off, thank you to anyone and everyone for praying. We so sincerely appreciate it. Kelly went to the vascular specialist yesterday, we learned that his clot starts near his achilles and goes up his calf to just below his knee. As far as blood clots are concerned, this is best case scenario. Apparently behind the knee or into the thigh is when clots are more likely to break off and result in some pretty scary situations, Kelly's are all below and in the smaller veins. Kelly is all done with his injections, seriously Praise the Lord! Poor guy was not a fan of that, and I don't blame him.  We are awaiting the results of some blood work (16 vials!), to find out if this was just from Kelly's knee surgery or if this is related to something hereditary and thus potentially a life long ordeal... As you probably already know, Kelly is a police officer. Being a police officer on blood thinners is not exactly an ideal situation. Kelly has the opportunity to work 'light duty' for some time, but this is not a permanent option, so the results we receive in the next couple of weeks will possibly have a major affect on his career and our family.
We both do not think he has the hereditary problem. Our guess is based on our hopes and nothing more. We told God we were scared, and we both feel an amazing amount of peace, the kind that can only come from Him. I don't know what we would do without prayer and faith in God's plan. Faith that He has designed all of these events for His good purpose.
"And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
The days are filled to the brim getting Kelly healed up from surgery and loving on our little ones. Thankfully there is literally no time to sit around and worry. In the weirdest of ways, we are almost excited to see what God has in store for the Smith family for 2013. We are so hopeful that 2013 will be bright compared to a tough 2012.

Just wanted to share, Rob & I went through nearly the same exact situation about 3 years ago. He was off work for a month due to an injury which resulted in a blood clot the entire length of his leg. I had to give him those shots in his stomach that cost $1500. He was on blood thinners for about a year, I think. Ayiii Ayii. Anyways, thinking of you while you play Momma and nurse :)
